大同是國家園林城市、最具生態競爭力城市、中國十佳運動休閑城市、中國特色魅力城市。大同地處北緯40度，平均海拔1000米，年均日光照度3000小時，夏季平均氣溫20℃左右，相對濕度50%左右，是名副其實的“清涼夏都”和“康養勝地”。近年來，大同空氣質量穩居山西省第一，水環境質量穩定達標并持續改善，土壤污染治理成效顯著，“大同藍”“大同綠”“大同清”品牌持續叫響。
Datong was awarded ‘National Garden City’, ‘China’s Top Competitive City for Ecological Excellence’, ‘Top 10 Sports and Leisure City of China’ and ‘Charm city with Chinese characteristics’. The city is located at a latitude of 40 degrees north with an average height over sea level of 1,000 meters and sunshine duration of 3,000 hours per annum. It has a moderate climate in summer with an average temperature of 20℃ and a relative humidity of 50%. Thus, Datong enjoys the reputation of being a summer resort and a health resort. In recent years, the air quality of the city is listed as the top one in Shanxi Province. The quality of the water environment has reached stable standards and continues to improve. Soil pollution control has achieved remarkable results. ‘Datong Blue’, ‘Datong Green’ and ‘Datong Clean’ have become new city calling cards.
